I am so grateful to be able to get this beef. This is the second time I have purchased it, and I hope to continue to do so. The flavor of the beef is the best I have had. You cannot go back to grocery store beef once you eat this. This beef also has health benefits including omega 3's. Thank you Star Valley!

Of course we think your meat is the best - that's why we come back year after year! But loved seeing the finished house which is just fabby (apart from the cinnamon baroque, of course! ;-)) and love that you can look out across the valley to the cows (and Rosie) now. Something very reassuring about getting our meat from such an idyllic setting.

I have finally found beef in western PA that tastes like the beef I had growing up as a boy in the farmlands of western NY. I have read some comments that Starr Valley Farm beef is "gamey." From my way of thinking, it's not gamey. It's what REAL beef tastes like. We've become so used to the garbage that passes as beef in supermarkets, restaurants and even butcher stores that we don't know anymore what real beef tastes like.
My favorite test for beef is to eat a rare hamburger -- no spices. The taste of Starr Valley Farm ground beef is divine. I have to watch myself, lest I go through the ground beef in a week, eating hamburgers, morning, noon and night.
The other cuts are wonderful, too. I age the steaks a tad more in my refrigerator (two weeks) to dry them out further. So, if you like aged beef, it's easy to do with Starr Valley Farms. This simple process makes for stakes that my friends rave over.
Buying by the box takes a little getting used to. When I was a kid, my folks bought by the half-steer -- but we were eight and we are only, two now. I am so happy to have found Starr Valley Farm.

I want to tell you I just had a fillet from my box. Using minimal Cajan seasoning I cooked it slow and with low heat leaving it still pink in the middle. OMG! It was So Good! Thanks so much for some of the best beef I've had in a long time.

I've search for quite a while to find a farm nearby that provides strictly grass-fed beef. I went to eatwild.com and found the Starr Valley Farm!!! It's less than an hour from my home. The meat is outstandingly delicious. The family is absolutely wonderful to work with. So close to home. It's a win, win, win situation. We are totally pleased in every way.

My husband & I wanted to consume better foods and this began our search for a organic farm for beef and that is when I found Starr Valley Farm.
First, let me say that my husband is a beef lover and I was not. If my meat didn't have feathers, I didn't like the taste. However, after speaking to Margi and she explained how they raised their beef & she educated me on the proper cooking methods of grass-fed beef, I decided to take the plunge and try their organic beef. The day we purchased the beef, which is a wonderful variety of cuts I decided to grill hamburgers from the ground beef. I was so amazed at the moist, flavorful beef that I am now a beef eater! That was without a doubt the best hamburger I ever ate.
I love everything about Starr Valley Farm, the care they take to provide healthy, organic beef, the kindness of the entire Starr Family & as busy as Margi is she will take the time to answer any questions you may have.
Thank you Starr Family for everything! My husband is especially happy because beef is now on the dinner table more often.
I highly recommend Starr Valley Farm to anyone that wants to change their beef products to this amazing beef. You will be so glad you did!

Great Beef From a Wonderful Family By: kim brevard (Sep 29, 2012)
For quite some time, I wanted to switch to locally grown grass fed beef and researched farms around my local area.
I recently purchased my first order of grass fed beef from the Starr Family Farm and I wasn't sure what to expect. However, Margi and her family were warm and inviting. The beef was nicely wrapped and ready to place into the freezer.
You can tell that Margi and her family really care and take great pride in producing a quality product that any mother would be proud to feed her family. To me, the people behind the product is just as important that the quality of the product itself.
Now onto the beef. You can really tell the difference in quality and taste. The first thing I made was thick juicy hamburgers that were simply delicious. My husband raved over the taste. The funny thing is that I used less seasoning to allow my family to enjoy the natural favor and texture of the meat. The roast are just as delicious.
My family is now enjoying a better, healthier quality of beef. I've already place my next order. I never want to eat inferior beef again.

I bought from Starr Valley for the first time this year. The selection I received is fantastic. The steaks are so tender and flavorful that I am hard pressed to order a steak when I go out as I know what I have at home is so much better. The communication during the whole process is on point and they really inform you of how they operate the farm. Highly recommended... do yourself a favor and sign up today!

I just enjoyed a fabulous roast from my 1/8th size purchase and had to share how thrilled I am with Starr Valley. The flavor & tenderness is superb - it must be their care for the animals, organic grass-fed practices combined with the dry aging and careful oversight. They are second to none. The variety of cuts I have received is just perfect.
Everything is labeled & packaged so nicely. If there is a cut that I am not quite sure how to fix, I just look it up on the internet for inspiration - so easy & fast with today's technology. This has provided my family with an exceptionally healthy & flavorful set of meals that couldn't possibly be more convenient. I am heading out of state for 1 year - but I'll be sure to make a special trip back to pick-up my share. I am so very thankful for the service they are providing to me. I couldn't be happier supporting such a wonderful family & farm.

I was introduced to Starr Valley Farm beef when having dinner at a friend's house. We were having hamburgers. The meat was so delicious and flavorful, I asked what store it came from. He told me no store, but from a local producer. I called, got on the distribution list, and have been enjoying the meat for several years now. It's truly on a different level than the meat you get in stores, not just the hamburger, but all the pieces. I assume it's the organic farming practices and the all grass diet. I hope Starr Valley Farm stays in business forever. There's no way I could go back to store products, even the higher end meat. The farm, owners, and meat are all terrific. Try some and see for yourself.

I have LOVED the beef from Starr Valley Farm. I purchased an 1/8 share for myself for my 30th birthday last year, and couldn't have been more pleased. There's just no comparison for the quality and taste. I honestly can't imagine what my freezer would look like without it.

We are so glad that we found Starr Valley Farm! A couple of years ago, we were looking for a grass-fed, organic beef source and stumbled upon Starr Valley on the internet. We've been so pleased with every box - delicious (not dry at all) beef that we're happy to feed to our kids and ourselves. And what a bonus -- Margie and John are a true delight to work with. Always responsive and great to talk to. We'll continue to make the trip to Leechburg in the future...

Well worth every penny, we picked up our second box of beef on Saturday and sat down to a Filet and NY Strip dinner last night...I was pleasently surprised these were even better then the last box (my grilling technique might be getting better also). We will continue to make the drive for Starr Valley beef. Thanks to the Starr family for all they do.

WONDERFUL BEEF
I had recently purchased some organic grass fed beef from Starr Valley farm and it is awesome! I had purchased some organic grass fed beef from someone else last year and it was so very dry and not a good beef taste. When I found Starr Valley Farm on the internet, I thought I would give organic grass fed beef one more try and I am very glad I did! There beef is wonderful, not dry at all, very tender and moist. I just contacted Margie, (who by the way is GREAT to deal with) and ordered more! You won't be sorry if you purchase from Starr Valley Farm!! Jody : )

Taste the difference
I urge anyone to give Starr Valley Farm's beef a try. Once you taste it, you will never go back to corn fed again.
My husband and I have been eating organic for quite some time but after reading about the health benefits of grass fed vs. corn fed we decided to give it a try. We are so glad we did.
Thank you Starr Valley, we look forward to our next order.

Great beef, great folk!
When we first moved from UK, we struggled to find someone who produced humanely reared animals then hung the meat long enough to develop the flavour. Then we found the Starrs. First time we went, John showed us round the farm and we got to see the cows living contented lives. We've been back several times and it's like going back to see friends. The meat has excellent flavour and we are happy to know that the animals had good lives. We get a few cuts we wouldn't normally buy so it has also expanded our knowledge and cooking skills.

An overall excellent experience!
The experience I have had with Starr Valley Farms has been incredible. It is wonderful that our meat's food chain is so short. I don't worry feeding this beef to my two year old, because I know that the animals we are enjoying were healthy, well cared for, antibiotic free, and grass fed. Starr Valley beef is the only meat we eat in our home. The flavor is incredible. Anyone who tries it says it is the best beef they have ever had. And the family is delightful! What a rare treat in our country of factory farms to be able to go visit exactly where our food is coming from. The Starr family is so helpful and they take pride in their business (as they should!) Starr Valley farms has changed the way we eat, and we are now much more committed to the local food movement. We would recommend them to anyone!

*****Incomparable quality beef and customer service
I have become a convert to grass fed beef and its healthy effects. As a trained scientist, I bought beef from four farms and systematically compared comparable cuts of meat. Price aside, because they were so comparable, the meats were all at least GOOD. I decided not to continue using one farm because it was in Texas and the costs of shipping (an timing issues) was a problem. Of the three Pennsylvania farms, Starr Valley Farm's beef was extraordinary. The key flavor attribute that newcomers to grass fed beef find is the "gamey" taste. The extent of the "gamey" taste seems to be determined by the diet of the cow. Starrr Valley, which I inspected, has a completely organic certification, and the most mild of the three local farms. To be honest, it is not possible to be certain that the flavor is a lack of pestisides or anything, but I can objectively say that their beef is incomparable. Period. Now for customer service, the Starr family is absolutely delightful and will do most anything to make the customer happy. The meat is wrapped well. The container size is manageable (1/8 cow). It is for pickup, which not only saves the shipping costs, but lets you interact with Starr family--an added treat!

Starr Valley Beef is 5 Star Beef
I’m now on my second box of Starr beef, and I can’t say enough how great the beef is and the value you will get for the best grass-fed, naturally-raised, local, certified organic, dry-aged beef. My first visit to the Starr farm was a treat—John showed me around the farm and I personally saw the vision he had for his grasses and pastures (which support and flavor every aspect of their beef), and his happy cows.
What about the flavor of the beef? This is the best beef you will find anywhere (trust me, I grew up in the cattle belt of Nebraska). In fact, we have experimental proof. Some friends of mine decided to hold a blind taste-test comparing the Starr Beef to Giant Eagle and Costco brand beef a couple of months ago. Hands down, the Starr Beef won the blind taste-test among our friends, many of whom had never tasted grass-fed organic beef before. Our friends could taste the difference, and they loved it. One of my senior colleagues is now a Starr Valley Beef patr
At Starr Valley Farm, we're grateful for our customers and their desire to share their experience with our home grown product. Our reputation of delivering quality 100% grass fed beef over the years has grown and will continue to grow from authentic feedback like yours!
